How to get access on #Cyprus

#Cyprus with information on how to get much wanted (*grin*) access on our beloved channel #Cyprus on Undernet.All the current time of writing we have around 13 ops in one of the largest channels of Undernet. At times we can easily reach 450 users, and that is indeed remarkable. It is only natural that there would be a lot of demand for people wanting to becoming operators in our community. Admittedly, not everyone that wants to become an OP will become one, it simply doesn't work that way and you must understand that. We will just select who we think is the best for the job. Yes, we. Even though we have a person that is responsible for the handling of "new ops", it is actually the decision of all the OPs in #Cyprus as to who will get access in the end.

Now , down to the point. What we really are looking for when we choose the people that are right for this job are:

How long have you had access to the Internet and IRC? The general rule behind this, is that people who have been joining IRC longer than others will be better suited for the job as they are more experienced.
Previous experience with other channels? People who have had access in other channels on Undernet probably know how it is to manage a channel. They also probably know all the X commands (Which btw are available at http://www.cservice.undernet.org/docs/)
Do you know the X commands? Once (Well if) you become an OP, you'll have to deal with X the Undernet bot daily.
How many hours do you spend on IRC every day? We want ACTIVE ops in our community! You are really no use to us if you join once every month or so! ;-) I think you understand why (you do understand, don't you?)
We need people with good computer and internet knowledge. Whether we like it or not, people think of us as "free support" for their computer problems. They may ask you which modem they should buy, what the proxy settings are for their ISP and even why their computer will not start! The more prepared you are to answer these questions, the better.
We need mature people! By mature I don't necessarily mean by age. We have members in our OP family ranging from 16 years old and upwards. Generally, the older the better but there is no age discrimination here. We have found out that teenagers make actually some of the best OPs (due to the time and devotion to the channel).
We need kind and understanding people with a good character. This is actually an important reason because we people who respect the rules and are friendly with the users. This is important for the general survival of our channel.
What Is your current knowledge on Bots? We need ops that have good knowledge on bots since they will have access in #Cyprus Official Bots.
We need people with knowledge on Web Designing to help us in our Website.
Finally we need ops who understand English.

When you email me, please remember the following:

Absolutely no html in your email! I will ignore you, simple.
Refer to the above points as to "Who qualifies as an op" when you email me. For example, say that you have had access on several channels and that justifies that you know the X commands. Say that you are taking computer science at school-For that will justify your computer knowledge. Also include like how many hours you spend online, when you first came on IRC, your age, hobbies - I want to know about you! Think of it as a job interview and try to make an impression. Money also is welcome
Once you email me, come up and speak to me on IRC again, I'll tell you my comments about your mail, and ask you some questions. We'll see how it goes from there.
Talk to all the ops! Get to know them all if possible! The more support you get from everyone, the better. Do not become too much of a nuisance though, don't annoy us!
Do not email me with sentences like the following "ELARE,THELWNAGINWOPEIMAIPOLLAKALOSTSAIEXOACCESSSEPOLLAKANALIA OKAY RE?". Make it professional, trust me, It helps. Use English or Greek (But still in English characters).

Remember though that it is difficult to get access on #Cyprus. No-one ever said it was easy. It may also takes months before we even give you a chance, be prepared and above all don't surprised if we don't choose you!!!
